17 Martin Luther King, Jr. Quotes That Push Our Hearts & Mind

Life’s most persistent and urgent question is,

What are you doing for others?’

Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot and killed on April 4th, 1968, while in Memphis, Tennessee. While his life ended abruptly and entirely too soon, his legacy is inarguably one of the most impactful our nation has and will ever enjoy. His life was dedicated to the people: Our empowerment, our betterment, our education, our equality, our opportunity, our freedom, our justice, our sister and brotherhood, our peace, and most of all, our love. These things are the crux of a man who sacrificed his life so that we may live a life according to God’s will and purpose for mankind.

Today, as we reflect on his life and all of his contributions, I think specifically of his ideology on service to humanity. His prolific yet simply stated affirmations of how we should live our lives is a great charge to consider.

Of the many famous quotes we’ll forever reference, following are 17 that speak on the act service, love, progression and ability. My hope is that we apply Dr. King’s doctrines in order for our communities to thrive through our selfless existence and fervent action. May we be fearless in our convictions… because we all have a dream.
