#FlanFridays: Toughest One Yet! The Blueberry.

Yes, it’s almost midnight my time, and I’m laying in bed writing this post out of sheer commitment to satisfy my followers on Twitter that know about #FlanFridays.

I got up early this morning, excited about FINALLY using up the fresh blueberries that had been staring at me every time I opened my fridge. They knew they were going to be used for a flan.  I’ve been talking about it for about 4 weeks now.

But, I just couldn’t bring myself to making it. No reason in particular. Just wasn’t compelled to indulge in yet another blueberry summer dessert.

Now, I know why!

This bad boy is insanely delicious. It’s sinfully pretty. It’s beautifully colored. It’s sexy creamy.

But a hell of a process if ever I’ve had in making a fresh fruit flan!

I am relentless in my efforts, however, and was not going to allow this itty blue ball get the best of me. I puréed the blueberries, made my custard mix, cooked it, chilled it, unmolded it, and this is what I got.

Utter perfection (slight margin of dissatisfaction in the side texture).

I’ll spare you the details of the slightly labor intensive steps (which I’ll admit to having to modify next time) of this one luscious and creamy flan. I just want you to pretend you have a spoonful in your mouth.

Just as I did about an hour ago!

Happy #FlanFridays!

  5. That looks super… someone said “tantalizing””? I guess, whatever that means it sure sounds appropriate :-). I’m a fool for flan, and blueberry, while not my favorite berry, is indeed “berry” healthy, which puts a damp on the sin of downing so much sugar and cholesterol. Great flan; great pic.

  7. Now this is some serious looking flan! I never have been a fan of the dessert, but I’m tempted by this photo. And we have loads of blueberries just waiting to get used up!

  8. I admit I just stared at that picture for a while. I never knew you could make flan with blueberries (or any berry for that matter).

I bet is labor intensive like you said but well worth it. The next time you make one of these you know to give me a call. I can be your official flan taster. 🙂

  9. Headley’s estranged Moroccan wife gives more Mumbai links

Security agencies have been able to get an insight into the private life of American terror suspect David Headley, With his estranged Moroccan wife telling researchers about connections he had in Mumbai, Including by incorporating socialites.

Faiza Outalha, who, The security agencies suspect had carried out reconnaissance of certain installation that were targeted by the Lashker e Taiba terrorists in Mumbai on November 26, 2008, Told National enquiry Agency (NIA) That she was married to 48 year old Headley but had a divorce later, ordinary sources said.

The woman flew to Mumbai from Karachi and crossed over by employing Wagah border into India the second time. She had come somebody in charge of in 2007 and stayed with the terror suspect in Taj Mahal Hotel and later in Oberoi Trident. The terrorists zeroed in on both the hotels on 26/11.

She again came in May 2008 via Wagah and went right to Manali where she had her holidays near a Jewish house and later toured other parts of Shimla including Kufri, a favorite tourist destination.

While she claimed that she had since been divorced as Headley was having contact with several women, The detectives also found from her about the terror suspect’s relations with some upcoming Bollywood actors, well known party hoppers of Mumbai and socialites.

The Moroccan woman informed the NIA sleuths that Headley’s activities in the hotel were dubious and both of them had visited the Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus, A place that saw Lashkar terrorists like the lone arrested militant Ajmal Kasab raining bullets on people.

by her statement, The NIA team has also quizzed an american national in Goa who knew Headley. The US nationalized, who has not (definitely not) A suspect in the event, Has been hopping out and in of India and had stayed in Manali and Goa with his Russian girlfriend.

The u s of a’s, workers, who are your employees as a masseur, Has not violated any of the visa rules of the nation and he had informed the investigators about Headley’s activities in Goa.

Another question bugging the probe agency was how Outalha entered India through Wagah border, Which is solely meant for Indian or Pakistani nationals. The woman is a Moroccan passport holder and could only use the route through special authorization from the russian dating Pakistani foreign office.
