Breakfast can be as easy and healthy as a bowl of creamy Greek yogurt, fresh blueberries, dark chocolate (with dried cranberries) granola, crushed & toasted almonds and a sexy drizzle of maple syrup. It’s so easy, it’s what I do most mornings when life is a little forgiving and my day lends me the luxury of slow motion. I relish those more than I’m afforded, so when I am allowed, I indulge and take my time in creating a pretty bowl of goodness that will fill me up until about noon.
While I mostly enjoy only yogurt and granola, and oftime satisfied with just that duo, the guy put me on to loving blueberries as a colorful topping to my simple concoction. In all its glory, the irony stands in our beautiful difference in proportional layering making it the most enjoyable bowl ever.
HIS
60% granola, 20% blueberries, 15% yogurt, 5% combo of almonds and syrup.
HERS
60% yogurt, 20% granola, 15% blueberries, 5% combo of almonds and syrup.
A vast difference, no doubt, but the one thing we both agree on is the remarkable deliciousness a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg contributes. It’s clear I like a bit more than a pinch. But he gets it. The aroma alone is worth the disparity.

With summer heat still lingering and showing off before I can even finish my first cup of café con leche, I’ve found this simple breakfast a really great way to get the nutrition I need to keep my day going. It’s generous in antioxidants, calcium, carbs, fruits, and has enough sugar; a reasonable complement if you take your coffee black. If you’re a super health nut and interested in taking it up a bit and want to feel responsible for a fully balanced breakfast bowl, add in some powdered protein and some chia seeds.
I do it all the time when he’s not looking. Because if he knew, the proportions would be all off….and that would disturb our method. They guy’s a method man.
Enjoy this breakfast in all its simplicity. And treat your body and soul right. It’s the only one you have!
¡Buen provecho!

Eat well, love unapologetically, pray with true intention, and take care of yourself.
